“What do you do, Sherry?” A loaded question for me when asked at a social event.
“Which phase of my life?” I think to myself…as I pause for thought.
Do I tell them how I worked with the dead (only half joking) in the Mortuary Industry? (When God speaks of raising things back to life, I have a new context for that.) Or do I tell them I worked in Aerospace as a programmer and was there that fateful day when the Challenger exploded? Or how I worked tirelessly to establish new tiles on the next Space Shuttle so that it would never happen again?

A Journey Out of the Wilderness
“I feel like I’m going through Hell!” I told
the Lord one day.
One fateful decision landed me smack in the middle of my own Wilderness…
Though I was obeying God’s voice, I spent the next several years “walking on water,” even though it felt more like I was treading water. A Journey Out of the Wilderness is for people going through a rough time—a Wilderness experience—where you feel as though you are “down for the count” and ready to give up. Wilderness Wanderers feel as though they are doing laps around the mountain, passing the same tree over and over again wondering, “Will this never end?” However, being in the Wilderness will be one of the most transformational times of your life.
This is not a “How To” book providing ten easy steps to escape the Wilderness, nor is it a book about all the things you must do while you are there. Rather, it is a book filled with insights and revelations God has given me, as well as others in the Wilderness—things that will help keep you going, despite the surrounding circumstances.
A Journey Out of the Wilderness will carry you through the next leg of your journey. It will encourage you to make it out of your Wilderness and launch you into your destiny and your own personal Promised Land!

Sherry’s transparency in sharing her own journey provides the reader with hope, insight, restoration, and deliverance we can receive when we look to God for our solutions. “What is this?” I asked one of my good friends as we were in a gift store the other day.
“It is a Rosary,” she said.
She went on to explain that every perfectly sized bead represents a prayer of declaration.
I was thinking about what my personal Rosary would look like…

“Vindicated at last” I thought to myself as I spoke to the dean of the department at the university where I received my masters degree.
“I will write you a letter to the other college, stating that your degree is correct”, he said as I proceeded to take down his email address to contact him later.
….But there was a funny check in my spirit…

My thirty-five-year driver’s record was stellar until last year. We had an entire year of a Job season that we went through as a family. All the members of the family got sick and four out of five went to the hospital.
When that year ended, no one was happier to see that severe trail from the rear-view window than me. Then out of nowhere a car rear-ends me in stop-and-go traffic on the freeway…
